COMPRESSOR - TROUBLESHOOTING OF THE COMPRESSOR AND SOLUTION

1). THE COMPRESSOR WILL NOT START:

CAUSE:
  • Power failure.
  • Activation of main protection and activation of motor protection.
  • Temperature indicator or temperature tranducer fault.
  • Temperature indicator (micro processor controller) Activated. Because temperature is too high.
  • Ambient temperature too low.
SOLUTION:
  • Check for supply voltage in the power supply terminals.
  • Check the protection, replace or switch ON.
  • Check replace if damaged.
  • Check:
      - oil level and top it up if necessary.
      - remove causes of insufficient cooling.
      - thermostat - if faulty to replace the entire thermostat or its cartridge.
  • Heat the room upto reach atleast +5°c.
2). DIFFICULT COMPRESSORS START:

CAUSE:
  • Supply voltage too low.
  • Ambient temperature too low.
  • Non return valve fault.
SOLUTION:
  • Check supply voltage bring it to correct value.
  • Heat the room upto reach atleast 5°C.
  • Call the service.
3). WRONG ROTATION DIRECTION:

CAUSE:
  • Wrong phase sequence.
SOLUTION:
  • Swap two phase leads in the compressor terminal block or electric cabinet.

4). OIL TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH COMPRESSOR DOES NOT START:

CAUSE:
  • Ambient temperature >40°C.
  • Contaminated cooler.
  • Operating pressure above the set value.
  • Oil level too low.
  • Oil thermostat malfunction.
  • Lack of cooling water.
  • Damaged temperature transducers.
  • Other damage.
SOLUTION:
  • Ensure adequate ventilation in the room.
  • Clean the cooler (exchanger).
  • Adjust the pressure switch or enter correct settings in the controller.
  • Top oil up as required.
  • Replace the entire thermostat or its cartridge.
  • Provide water to Compressor.
  • Replace with a new one.
  • Call the service.
5). FORCING PRESSURE TOO LOW:

CAUSE:
  • Wrong pressure switch or microprocessor controller setting.
  • Insufficient Compressor capacity in relation to air requirement.
  • Leak in the system.
  • Air filter contaminated.
  • Damaged pressure transducer.
  • Damaged suction regulator.
SOLUTION:
  • Adjust the pressure switch or enter the correct settings in the controller.
  • Install additional source of Compressed air.
  • Check the tubing for leaks, remove leaks if any.
  • Change air filter cartridge (during the warranty period to be replaced obligatorily by the service staff only).
  • Replace with a new one.
  • Call the service staff.
6). ACTIVATION OF MOTOR PROTECTION:

CAUSE:
  • Ambient temperature too high.
  • Failure of one phase motor power supply.
  • Supply voltage too low.
  • Discharge pressure higher than specified on the name plate.
  • Screw seizure.
SOLUTION:
  • Improve room ventilation.
  • Check motor leads, contractor and protection.
  • Ensure correct supply voltage.
  • Adjust the correct settings in the controller.
  • Call service.
7). ACTIVATION OF SAFETY VALVE:

CAUSE:
  • Safety valve damaged.
  • Wrong microprocessor controller setting.
  • Damaged pressure transducer.
  • Damaged suction regulator.
SOLUTION:
  • Replace with new one (with appropriate. setting) or call service.
  • Adjust the correct settings in the controller.
  • Call the service staff.
  • Call the service staff.
